Set in Idaho, the unbiased film stars Heder in the role of Napoleon, a socially awkward high school student, along with his quirky immigrant friend, Pedro, and a weird family led by Uncle Rico.
Napoleon Dynamite started with a single make investmentsment of $four hundred,000 from a friend of the film’s writer and producer, Jared Hess. It premiered on the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, sold to Fox Searchlight Studios and have become a cult basic loaded with quotable lines.
The dialogue is perfect for social media memes and GIFs. We’ve all seen images of Uncle Rico, who claimed he may throw a football over a mountain, wearing a Dallas Cowboys jersey. There’s even a fan-generated video with Jerry Jones presenting him a jersey. Also, it’s not that difficult to discover a Vote for Pedro T-shirt. And we’ve seen Napoleon’s candy dance scene on YouTube relyless times.
«Everything in the film is so autobiographical,» Hess told Rolling Stone in 2014. «I grew up in a household of six boys in Preston, Idaho (the place the film was shot) and the character of Napoleon was a hybrid of all probably the most nerdy and awkward parts of me and my brothers rising up.»
No word on whether or not Texas Theater will have tots (Napoleon’s snack of choice) or 1% milk available within the concession area.
